The Jr. NBA, the league’s global youth basketball program for boys and girls, teaches the fundamental skills as well as the core values of the game at the grassroots level in an effort to help grow and improve the youth basketball experience for players, coaches and parents. The program also instills the Jr. NBA’s core values of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, a positive Attitude, and Respect (S.T.A.R.), while teaching the importance of leading healthy and active lifestyles. The Jr. NBA program is free across all stages.

The Jr. NBA Indonesia 2019 program for boys and girls is split into multiple stages: the Jr NBA Indonesia Camp; the Jr. NBA Global Championship Asia Pacific Selection Camp; the Jr. NBA Global Championship in the U.S. held from August 6-11 at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World near Orlando, Florida. Players between 11-14 (born between September 1, 2004 to August 31, 2006) will be eligible for selection to represent Asia Pacific in the second annual Jr. NBA Global Championship.

Jr. NBA has been conducted in Indonesia for five consecutive years, with the support of the local governments in Jakarta, South Sumatra, East Java, Central Java, West Java and Yogyakarta. Tahir Foundation is the official partner of Jr.NBA and the program is also supported by PERBASI, Window of the World Foundation, Vidio, Blibli.com, IndiHome.

Jr. NBA Indonesia Camp

Day one of the Indonesia Camp is open to boys and girls born between September 1, 2004 to December 31, 2009, with participants being tested and scored on 5 skills stations – Dribbling, Shooting, Passing, Footwork & Layups – with the top 50 boys and 50 girls advancing to day two. On day two, athletes will take part in basketball drills scrimmages, culminating with the selection of five boys and five girls who will be named 2019 Jr. NBA Indonesia All-Stars. Only boys and girls born between September 1, 2004 to August 31, 2006 are eligible for selection.

Jr. NBA Global Championship Asia Pacific Selection Camp

The 2019 Jr. NBA Indonesia All-Stars will participate in the first Jr. NBA Global Championship Asia Pacific Selection Camp, a 2-day event that will feature top youth players from the region. The top performing 10 boys and 10 girls will represent Asia Pacific in the Jr. NBA Global Championship.

Jr. NBA Global Championship

The Jr. NBA Global Championship is an annual youth basketball tournament for the top boys and girls teams from around the world. The 2019 Jr. NBA Global Championship features boys and girls divisions, separated into U.S. and international brackets. It begins with round-robin play and continues with single-elimination competition. The winners of the U.S. and international brackets will play in the world championship games on August 11, 2019. More than 300 boys and girls from 35 countries participated in the inaugural Jr. NBA World Championship in August 2018. During the weeklong event, all 32 teams participated in off-court activities including life skills sessions, Disney park visits, a community service project, and educational meetings with current and former NBA and WNBA players and coaches.
