The Jr. NBA, the league’s global youth basketball program for boys and girls, teaches the fundamental skills as well as the core values of the game at the grassroots level in an effort to help grow and improve the youth basketball experience for players, coaches and parents. The Jr. NBA program is free across all stages.

Co-organized by Sport Singapore, ActiveSG Basketball Academy and the NBA, the Jr. NBA Singapore 2019 program for boys and girls is split into multiple stages: the Jr NBA Selection Trials; the National Selection Camp; the National Training Camp; the Jr. NBA Global Championship Asia Pacific Selection Camp; and the Jr. NBA Global Championship (held in the US from August 6-11 at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World near Orlando, Florida). Players between 11-14 (born between September 1, 2004 to August 31, 2006) will be eligible for selection to represent Asia Pacific in the second annual Jr. NBA Global Championship.

Jr. NBA Selection Trials

Participants will be put through a series of skill Stations and scrimmages. The top 500 players will advance to the Selection Camp. The Jr. NBA Selection Trials are scheduled to take place on April 20 at Pasir Ris Sports Centre, and April 21 at Clementi Sports Centre.

Jr. NBA National Selection Camp

The top 500 boys and girls selected from the Selection Trial will compete for the chance to advance to the next stage of the Jr. NBA Singapore program, the National Training Camp. The Jr. NBA National Selection Camp is scheduled to take place on April 27 at Pasir Ris Sports Centre, and April 28 at Clementi Sports Centre.

Jr. NBA National Training Camp

The National Training Camp is the finale to the Jr. NBA Singapore program. The camp will be attended by an active or retired NBA player and feature the top 200 boys and girls selected at the Selection Camp. The National Training Camp will culminate with the selection of five boys and five girls who will be named as Jr. NBA Singapore All-Stars and join the Jr. NBA Global Championship Asia Pacific Selection Camp.

Jr. NBA Global Championship Asia Pacific Selection Camp

The 2019 Jr. NBA Singapore All-Stars will participate in the first Jr. NBA Global Championship Asia Pacific Selection Camp, a 2-day event that will feature top youth players from the region. The top performing 10 boys and 10 girls will represent Asia Pacific in the Jr. NBA Global Championship.

Jr. NBA Global Championship

The Jr. NBA Global Championship is an annual youth basketball tournament for the top boys and girls teams from around the world. The 2019 Jr. NBA Global Championship features boys and girls divisions, separated into U.S. and international brackets. It begins with round-robin play and continues with single-elimination competition. The winners of the U.S. and international brackets will play in the world championship games on August 11, 2019.

More than 300 boys and girls from 35 countries participated in the inaugural Jr. NBA World Championship in August 2018. During the weeklong event, all 32 teams participated in off-court activities including life skills sessions, Disney park visits, a community service project, and educational meetings with current and former NBA and WNBA players and coaches.

Jr. NBA Malaysia Camp

Day one of the Camp is open to boys and girls born between September 1, 2004 to December 31, 2009, with participants being tested and scored on 5 skills stations – Dribbling, Shooting, Passing, Footwork & Layups – with the top 50 boys and 50 girls advancing to day two. On day two, athletes will take part in basketball drills scrimmages, culminating with the selection of five boys and five girls who will be named 2019 Jr. NBA Malaysia All-Stars. Only boys and girls born between September 1, 2004 to August 31, 2006 are eligible for selection.

Jr. NBA Philippines 2019 presented by Alaska returns to the Philippines for the 12th consecutive year with an expanded program. Since its launch in 2007, Jr. NBA Philippines has reached more than 1.7 million players and coaches and expanded to 134 cities and municipalities nationwide.


Jr. NBA Philippines will teach the fundamental skills and core values of the game at the grassroots level. The program includes youth clinics, Regional Selection Camps, and National Training Camp and new this year, will feature an opportunity to participate in the first Jr. NBA Global Championship Asia Qualifiers and Jr. NBA Global Championship.

Regional selection camps will be staged in five cities across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao to select the top 40 boys and 40 girls that will advance to the National Training Camp in Metro Manila, which will feature an NBA and WNBA player or legend. As many as five boys and five girls from the National Training Camp will advance to the first Jr. NBA Global Championship Asia Qualifiers, a week-long selection camp in June featuring top youth players from Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.


In addition, 10 boys and 10 girls will represent Asia Pacific in the second Jr. NBA Global Championship.

Skills Clinics

Skills clinics are composed of an open clinic and coaches clinics led by 50 accredited Jr. NBA coaches in schools and communities that will focus on teaching the fundamentals of basketball and core values of the game.

Regional Training Camps

Players born from Sept. 1, 2004 to Aug. 31, 2006 are eligible to qualify for Day 2 of the Regional Selection Camp and further stages of the program.

Each athlete is tested and scored on 5 Jr. NBA Skill Stations - Dribbling, Shooting, Passing, Footwork & Layups

Top 40 boys & 40 girls advance to Day 2


Day 2

Top 80 take part in morning basketball clinic and afternoon 5-on-5 games

After staging all Regional Selection Camps, Jr. NBA coaches deliberate and select 40 boys and 40 girls to advance to National Training Camp

The Jr. NBA Global Championship Asia Qualifiers will be a week-long event in June that will feature top youth players from Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
